Contact forms not landing in your inbox? Grab this fix.
How many times have you been frustrated that your contact forms are not landing in your inbox?
Or worse yet, your client’s gorgeous new website is not routing any of her forms to her inbox. She’s missing leads, opportunities, and business. Your reputation is on the line.
We’ve all been there.
The biggest reason why your forms are not going through is because by default WordPress uses the PHP mail function to send mail from your website. The majority of website hosts clamp down on this function to prevent spam so sometimes your messages aren’t even leaving your website.
Email providers also have sophisticated spam filters in place to protect you from being exploited, spammed, or compromised. Because of the nature of the way WordPress handles email, there is an excellent chance spam filters will prevent any of these emails from landing in an inbox and more often than not, they might not even make the spam folder.
The answer? A SMTP plugin.
SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Luckily, the plugin we use and recommend at Web Designer Beauty School is relatively straightforward and easy to set up. All you need is a G Suite or Gmail address and you’ll be seeing your forms land in your inbox in no time.
We recommend using Post SMTP. By using Post SMTP and your G Suite account or your Gmail account, you’ll configure your website to send out email through Google’s servers.
